Getting your Fastmail API token
Maskbox connects to your account with a token you create. It takes about a minute.
- 1In Fastmail, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Integrations → API tokens, or open fastmail.com/settings/security/tokens directly.
- 2Create a new token and grant it the “Masked Email” scope. Leave “Read-only access” unchecked — Maskbox needs write access to manage aliases.
- 3Copy the token, open Maskbox, and paste it into the Connect screen. Your aliases load right away.
What is Maskbox?
An app for managing your Fastmail masked email aliases. Create, activate, block, and delete aliases from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, plus Home Screen widgets, a Control Center button, and Siri Shortcuts.
Do I need a Fastmail account?
Yes. Maskbox manages Fastmail’s masked email feature, so it requires a Fastmail account and an API token with the Masked Email scope.
Where is my API token stored?
In your device’s keychain. It’s used only to talk directly to Fastmail over HTTPS and is never sent to us or to any other third party.
What's the difference between Block and Delete?
Block sends an alias’s incoming mail to Trash. Delete makes future mail to that alias bounce. Both are reversible from within Maskbox.
Does it work offline?
Widgets and Shortcuts show your cached aliases even without a connection. Creating, activating, blocking, or deleting aliases needs a connection to Fastmail.
Can I try it before connecting my account?
Yes. Maskbox’s onboarding has a Try the demo option that loads sample data with no token and no network connection.
Which platforms are supported?
iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Maskbox requires iOS 26 / iPadOS 26 / macOS 26 or later.
